What would Ma Ingalls be feeding her family right now? This is the question I pondered after harvesting and preserving our crop last fall, the question which sparked a desire in me to dive into eating seasonally, and the question that led to the conception of our Fall & Winter and Spring & Summer seasonal food guides.
With our modern convenience known as the grocery store and its produce section fully stocked year-round, it's foreign to us as 21st century consumers to fathom eating seasonally or even to have the knowledge regarding which specific fruit and vegetable varieties grow and ripen in each season.
We hope this free digital guide creates a passion in you to begin thinking about food differently, to support your local economy and visit farm markets this summer for your fresh produce, and to live with a confidence around food and nourishing yourself that you haven't experienced before!
